Concrete is a composite material made up of several fine and coarse aggregates which bond together with a wet cement paste that hardens over time. This hardening or drying up process is also referred to as ‘curing.’ In the past, lime putty such as lime-based cement binders, were often used with calcium aluminate cement – a type of hydraulic cement which is known to be water resistant.

There are mainly two types of concrete plants which works with a set of different production protocols, namely;
– Dry mix concrete plant
– Wet mix concrete plant

Choosing a suitable concrete batching plant according to the construction project specifications is very important. Determining the required blueprint to be built and its transportation facilities gives the builder an idea in advance on what sort of equipment’s and the type of batching plant that will be most suitable for the project success.

Dry mix concrete batching plant is a special type of concrete batch plant which is used to mix concrete with other aggregates to achieve the end product. In this process, the batching plant has to work along with a truck mixer to mix the final concrete product. This enables the dry mix concrete plant to generate an output with higher efficiency.

Eurotec dry mix concrete batching plant is designed for easy setup and efficient output capabilities to satisfy the project parameters with outstanding value and results.

Dry mix concrete batching plants, also known as dry concrete batching plants use raw materials like sand, gravel, and cement that are fed to the batching plant. These raw materials are then transferred into a truck bin connected by a chute. During this transferring process, water is also weighed, or volume metered and discharged into the mixer truck through the same charging tank. The mixed final product is then transported to the site.

Mobile concrete plants and stationary concrete plants, share the same process of the dry concrete batch plant which include a series of cement silos, feeding system, control system, weighing system and mixing system. Cement silos are the units that store and supply raw materials like cement, sand and fly ash as the basic raw materials required for production.

The feed system is a bridge which connects the aggregates to the mixing system. The accuracy of the weighing system determines the amount of mixed materials that should be added into the mixing process without water. Therefore, this process greatly influences the quality of the mixed concrete.

The mixer truck also plays an important role during this process as it is responsible for transporting and mixing the concrete end-product. Then comes the control system which works at the core of the entire plant, ensuring proper management and efficient production. Workers are allowed full automation by using the concrete equipment from this control room.

Dry batching plant will result with variations in standard deviation of breaking strength and changes from load to load, because while mixing cement, stone and other mixture components, they can be mixed in a systematic design. Some concrete batching plants are known to combine dry and wet mix characteristics to increase the application.

Advantages of Dry Mix Concrete Batching Plants

Eurotec dry batching concrete plant is special when compared to its competitors due to its processing units possessing higher output capacity with lower energy consumption. This greatly influences returns and profits in the long run.

Some key benefits include;

– It has higher capacity and lower energy consumption because concrete can be mixed without water
– The inter-operability between the dry batching plant and the mixer truck thereby increasing productivity and timely delivery.
– The potential of availing fresh concrete because of the prompt arrival of mixer trucks to the construction site.
– It shortens the construction time period and enhances productivity.
– Lower operating costs of dry-batch concrete plants.
– Lower maintenance.

– Efficient performance.

Let us look into some of the different dry mix concrete batching plants offered by Eurotec;

Eurotec Ecodry Dry Mix Concrete Batching Plants

ECODRY 30/ ECODRY 60/ ECODRY 90

With a capacity ranging from 30 m3/hr to 90m3/hr, this specially designed concrete batch plant is suitable for projects that require high outputs with lower energy consumption. The Eurotec Ecodry dry mix concrete batching plant is a modularized structure for easy and quick installation and dismantling.

Incorporating technology that enables reduced noise and dust levels in all its range of products to choose from with an extensive range of customization options to fit different project requirements. This model consists of a control room, mixer, weighing unit, aggregate feeder and belt conveyor. Known for its lower maintenance costs and shorter maintenance time due to a mixer-free operation. As well as for its lower operating costs, when compared with a wet mix batching plant.

The Eurotec Ecodry dry mix concrete batching plant weighs sand, gravel and cement in batch weighing systems, and discharges them through a chute into a mixing truck. Water is also weighed and discharged through the same charging chute and mixer truck.

All these ingredients are then mixed in the mixer truck’s drum during the transportation to the job site. The concrete in dry mix plants is stirred while being transported to the job site to prevent settling, using drum agitators. During heavy traffic conditions, the mixer truck’s driver will sometimes have to add water into the drum, due to unexpected delays in transportation time.

Unlike a wet mix plant, a dry mix plant doesn’t have a mixer. Dry batching plants will usually see more variations in standard deviation of breaking strength and concrete quality changes from load to load. A dry mix concrete batching plant can be fully automated in operations using our ECS Process Control System software which runs on a user-friendly Windows OS.
