- Net volume is the entered concrete quantity converted to cubic metres.
- Order volume = net volume x (1 + waste percentage / 100).
- Base concrete cost = net volume x unit rate after converting the selected unit-rate basis.
- Total concrete cost = order volume x unit rate after converting the selected unit-rate basis.
- Waste allowance cost = total concrete cost - base concrete cost.
- The monetary outputs use the same currency as the unit rate entered by the user.

- Worked example: net concrete volume = 20 m3, unit rate = 120 currency units per m3, waste allowance = 5 percent. Order volume = 21.000 m3. Base cost = 2400.00. Waste allowance cost = 120.00. Total estimated concrete cost = 2520.00 currency units.

Assumptions
- The concrete volume entered by the user is the net geometric or measured quantity before waste unless the user intentionally enters an already adjusted quantity.
- The unit rate is supplied by the user and is assumed to correspond exactly to the selected rate basis.
- The calculator does not obtain live supplier, contractor, company, regional, or market rates.
- The same currency is used throughout the calculation. No currency conversion is performed.
- The waste or contingency percentage is applied directly to the net concrete volume.
- The calculator estimates concrete material cost only unless the entered unit rate already includes other cost components.
- Unless included in the user-supplied unit rate, the result excludes reinforcement, formwork, labour, equipment, concrete pumping, placing, finishing, testing, curing, transport surcharges, short-load charges, waiting time, admixtures, taxes, escalation, overhead, profit, and other project costs.
- Ready-mix suppliers may impose minimum order quantities, truck-load increments, delivery charges, or rounding rules that are not automatically included.
- Actual concrete consumption can differ from theoretical quantities because of excavation tolerances, uneven subgrade, overbreak, formwork movement, dimensional variation, spillage, pumping losses, rejected loads, and site conditions.
- The appropriate waste percentage should be selected using company procedures, historical productivity data, project conditions, supplier requirements, and professional judgement.
- The estimating / project basis selection is informational and does not change the arithmetic cost result.
