China has many breathtaking natural landscapes to explore but when incredible man made structures intervene with what nature has already created millions of years ago, the result is nothing short than the most amazing wonders in the country.



The Tianmen Mountain is located in the Hunan province of China. Through its peaks and valleys hides what may be considered as the most beautiful road in the world, the “Heaven-Linking Avenue”,  also known as the Big Gate Road.

This picturesque route, in addition to the natural beauty all around it, is also considered one of the most dangerous roads in China and will serpentine from 200 meters below sea level up to an altitude of 1300 meters in its 10 km in length. The Heaven-Linking Avenue gets its name for a reason, consisting of 99 curves, it is believed to symbolize heaven since the Chinese culture believes heaven has 9 places.

If you are not up for the risk, however, you can still enjoy the view by taking the cable car which is claimed to be the longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world with a total length of 7,455 meters.

Isolated foundation are mostly used for columns and frame structure to transfer point load on a larger area depending on the soil bearing capacity.

It also includes the ground water level effect on the foundation load and soil pressure. It finally gives the final design with a proper design diagram to elaborate its results.

In the Spanish city Benidorm are built towers which symbolize the release of Spain from recession, but the construction workers were apparently so spelled with the idea to make the largest residential building in Europe, and forgot to put elevator. By the end of the construction activities of the skyscraper there are a few more months, but the amazing skyscraper of 47 floors has no lift.

Contractors of construction activities initially built 20 floors, and then decided to add another 27, but for those 27 floors, they forgot to put a lift and to do it afterwards is impossible. Otherwise, it has sold only 35% of the apartments, and the rest of apartments should be sold by now…





Whack-A-Mole is a game in an amusment arcade in which players use a mallet to hit toy moles, which appear at random, back into their holes. You might have played a lot in your real life.
In WASHINGTON, a trio of construction workers on their break found a new use for their helmets and a rubber mallet: playing human whack-a-mole.

A video going viral on YouTube shows one construction worker holding the rubber mallet and using the tool to "whack" two of his colleagues on their hard hats when they emerge from a pair of holes.

Paving Streets and roads with asphalt can – in a not so distant future – become a thing of the past. The alternative? Recycled Plastic. And the Netherlands could be the first country to use this new type of road surface.

Dutch company named VolkerWessels is a high profile group of companies having roots in Netherlands with experts and professionals from round the globe. The company has recently launched a project titled “Plastic Road”.

The name seems interesting as one can’t expect a plastic bearing a load of heavy vehicles, but this lightweight design, a fraction of the construction time, virtually maintenance free, and three times the expected lifespan, having 100% recycled material is an ideal sustainable alternative to the asphalt road structures.

The idea was still in a conceptual stage, but recently Rotterdam city council has shown its interest in paving its streets with plastic bottles and considering piloting a new type of road surface touted by its creators as a green alternative to asphalt.

The claims of VolkerWessels are that it requires less maintenance than asphalt and could withstand greater extremes of temperature. Roads could be laid in a matter of weeks rather than months and lasts about three times as long.

The plastic roads are lighter, reducing the load on the ground, and hollow, making it easier to install cables and utility pipelines below the surface.

Sections can be prefabricated in a factory and transported to where they are needed, reducing on-site construction, while the shorter construction time and low maintenance will mean less congestion caused by roadworks. Lighter materials can also be transported more efficiently.
Green Roads

Another benefit is that the mentioned roads are hollow, which creates room for power cables and utility pipelines below the surface. Although the idea is still a concept, VolkerWessels expects to finish the first fully paved public road with recycled plastic within three years.

Western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under construction from Gawadar to Sorab (650 KMs) to provide connectivity upto Quetta, Qila Saifullah, Zhob and D.I Khan. As you can see, sections which have been completed are making transformational impact in remotest areas by providing connectivity.

The Corridor is an extension of China’s proposed 21st century Silk Road initiative. While the project took shape during Sharif's tenure, the vision for an economic route stretches as far back as the Musharraf era"






The 57.77 Km two lane road will stretch from Wangu hill to Quba Saeed Khan. The new road will cut travel time, boost trade and the purpose of project is to link Gwadar Port with Indus Highway. This road will provide a convenient link between the two provinces. Respect for the local community is among the top concerns on the Khuzdar – Shahdadkot Road. Thinking locally makes good environmental impact as well as business sense and will leave a positive legacy of economic growth and a stronger skill base in the town.





An engineer who is instructed to investigate and report on a deteriorated concrete structure, and to prepare recommendations for necessary remedial work, should be clear in his own mind on the extent of this responsibilities to his client.



If he is responsible for the inspection of the remedial work to ensure that the requirements of the contract are compiled with and the certification of payments – on – account to the contractor, then it is in the interests of this client that good relations with the contractor are maintained. These good relations will be reflected in the standard of work, and its completion within the contract period.

Download Repair, Protection and Waterproofing of Concrete Structures

Bosco Verticale in Italian means Vertical Forest. It is a pair of residential towers having covered area of more than 40,000 SM situated in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy. Stefano Boeri is a world renowned architect who has designed the towers. The towers are 110 meter and 76 meter. More than 900 tress will be housed by these iconic towers. The tower has special input from horticulturaists and botanists.





These two towers act as a model for a sustainable residential building, It is a part of metropolitan reforestation that contributes to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity without the implication of expanding the city upon the territory.

The research on Bosco Verticale, Milan is being conducted by Dr. Giacomello who was awarded $20,000 for a year, the research was supponsered by ARUP. 



The idea of energy efficient buildings is prevailing among the architects and urban town planners. New ways are being furnished to introduce greenery and tress in a densely developed urban centers.
The concept has many advantages and results were, as expected, producing oxygen, sequestering carbon, reducing heat island effect, providing sound deadening, improving building energy efficiency to more than 7.5 %.

But the research has also revealed some difficulties, the trees at the high roofs are subjected to more high wind speeds and different environmental pressures. What might happen when the a plant or few snapped off from the top and kill some one below.



The researchers measured leaf chlorophyll and nutrient content to assess the health of the trees, which represent 23 species and were planted as relatively mature examples. The team analyzed chlorophyll florescence and the content of heavy metals in the leaves to determine the level of stress in the trees. The research indicates that some species seem to adapt better to the challenging environment, and that trees on the upper floors are more stressed, requiring 20 percent more water.

Despite of the difficulties being faced, the project is a trendsetter and will prove to be among pioneers. 

A    fibre  is a unit of matter characterized by flexibility, fineness and a high ratio of length to thickness.

Because fibres have a high surface to volume ratio, they can be extremely strong materials. According to their origin, textile fibres may be classified as  natural fibres , when they occur in nature in fibre form, and  man-made fibres , when they do not occur in nature in fibre form.
